The Oxford Film Festival has added a student category this year and also have a $10,000 cash prize for short films and a $1,000 prize for short screenplays.  More information on how to submit to our festival is available on Film Freeway or at www.oxfordfilmfest.com/submit 


The Oxford Film Festival celebrates the art of independent cinema. Through year round programming, the festival works to encourage filmmaking in Oxford and North Mississippi while growing understanding of cinema through screenings, workshops and educational programs, culminating in the annual five day festival. 

The festival exhibits over 200 quality films from across the globe and has been praised for its hospitality.

The festival was founded in 2003 by the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council. In 2008, the Oxford Film Festival became an independent non-profit organization with 501c3 status committed to celebrating the art of independent cinema.

The festival screens short and feature-length films in both showcase and competition settings, hosts panel discussions on issues in contemporary filmmaking, and invites the filmmakers to interact with the audience at a number of social events. Film categories include:

  • Fest Forward: Animated and Experimental and New Media 
  • Documentary and narrative features and shorts
  • Mississippi narrative and documentary
  • Music Video and Documentary
  • Kid Film Festival

The Oxford Film Festival entertains and educates its participants, providing residents and visitors with the opportunity to watch independent films, as well as to meet the filmmakers and learn from industry professionals. The variety of films, in addition to the panels, attracts filmgoers of all ages and backgrounds. The festival also supports moviemaking in the area through the production of the community film and support of OxFilm Society which loans equipment to filmmakers filming in Oxford.

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) is thrilled to invite you to create a short film for the 2018 On Location film competition! Tell us your story in a narrative, documentary, commercial or animation format that positively highlights Los Angeles to the rest of the world. Create original, branded entertainment with Los Angeles as the experience. These short films will celebrate our fabulous City of LA and answer the question "What is your LA?"

This competition is an excellent opportunity for you to showcase your filmmaking skills and promises to highlight finalist entries with over a million views, a red carpet premiere screening event at Hollywood Center Studios with 750+ attendees, a celebrity judging panel with press interviews, an after-party, and over $70,000 in prizes, including cash!

The selection is open to young foreign filmmakers from all over the world who are working on their first or second feature film (fiction project only). A jury selects 6 candidates for each of the two four-and-a-half-month sessions per year.

The candidates are selected on the strength of the short films or the 1st feature that they have already directed as well as on their planned feature and the reasons why they wish to participate in the Residence’s programme.

Nespresso Talents 2018

Nespresso is looking for a film about women who makes a difference. They're after inspiring stories that celebrates the strength, that talent, and the innovation of the women who spark change.

The film will be eligible for both International and US selections of the competition. Selected filmmakers can win a trip to Tribeca Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival plus cash rewards up to $11,000.

The deadline is set on March 25, 2018

25 Under 25 Film Festival

Columbia College Hollywood filmmakers have been invited to participate in 25 Under 25 Fest, a new film festival along the Central Coast of California. The 25 Under 25 Fest is based in San Luis Obispo, CA and will highlight young filmmakers under the age of 25, who are making films under 25 minutes. 

It is open to all California residents and also students going to school in California. Their aim is to produce an environment that encourages youth art, innovative ideas, and lasting connections between young filmmakers.
The film fest is completely free to enter for students, but will soon only be $5. It’s an incredible opportunity for students to showcase their work on a larger platform. The filmmakers will also be accommodated with 2 night lodging and food while they’re in San Luis Obispo. They will be staying in log cabins by the beautiful Central Coast beach. We will also be giving away $2,500 in cash prizes to the top 3 films. 

Chalon Tout Court International Short Film Festival in France!

Call for Entry - Ca' Foscari Short Film Festival (8th edition)

Ca’ Foscari’ University of Venice is proud to present the eighth edition of the Ca’ Foscari Short Film Festival.

The Festival is reserved to short films from cinema/media schools and universities and will hol this year competition at Auditorium Santa Margherita, a wonderful theater in the heart of Venice, from March 21st to 24th, 2018.

We invite you to take part in our International Competition. This is a call for works; please refer to the Contest Regulationsattached for all the details. The deadline for submitting your works is January 20th2018

We will inform the selected directors by February 20th, in order to allow your students to plan a visit to our festival. Last year we were able to grant an accommodation to most of the selected directors and we hope to do the same this year: it is a very passionate and young-oriented festival and all our guests greatly enjoy the friendly atmosphere that characterizes us.

This is a great chance to show your films in one of the most breathtaking city in the world, to viewers from all over the globe, and we cannot wait to give your works a proper screening here in Venice, be they fiction films, documentaries, or animations.

2018 HBO Asian Pacific American Visionaries Short Film Competition!


Submissions are now open for the 2018 HBO Asian Pacific American Visionaries Short Film Competition!

This competition provides emerging directors of Asian and/or Pacific Islander descent the opportunity to showcase their work.

Judged by a panel of HBO executives, industry leaders, and fellow APA filmmakers, the competition seeks to identify cinematic storytellers who offer unique perspectives of the Asian Pacific American experience
The theme for the 2018 APA Visionaries Short Film Competition centers around the concept of “home”
Winners will be announced in February 2018
